Having gone several years without a football team, in the 201213 season a football club was re-established within the village. The team plays in the Whirlwind Sports Trelawny League and, now in the 2013-14 season, is pushing for promotion. The players train on Monday evenings (usually 7pm-8pm) at Penryn College. Currently club membership is open to men aged 16+, though it is also looking to start a women’s team and men’s second team.

With over 40 members, Mabe Garden Club offers gardeners of any age and experience the opportunity to join like-minded people in the quest to broaden their horticultural knowledge. Each year the committee organises a lively programme of guest speakers at the Club’s monthly meetings. Whether you are a rank beginner or an experienced gardener, there is always something new to learn. In addition, often the speakers bring along lovely plants for sale.
The Club also organises outings for members, not least to take advantage of the lovely gardens our county contains. Friendly and informal, the Club welcomes new members and visitors.
Club meetings take place in the Community Hall on the 3rd Monday of each month commencing at 7pm to which non-members are also welcome.
Annual Membership: £12
Non-members: £2 per meeting

Mabe’s Methodist congregation meets in Mabe Community Hall on Sunday mornings at 10 45 am - services lasts about an hour. The congregation is small, though many of the members are also actively involved with various other voluntary community activities in the village.
Up until 1991 services were held in the old Chapel at the top of Antron Hill, but several winter storms damaged the roof and the cost of maintaining the building became too high.
Following Mabe Youth & Community Project’s acquisition of the land in Cunningham Park, the Methodists relocated – initially into the original community hall, being an old portacabin classroom. The seating, crockery and even fire extinguishers from the old Chapel were transferred at the time for use in the Hall. Thereafter, following construction of the current community hall, the Methodist congregation moved into the new building (in 1997), and have been there ever since.
Throughout the year members hold events in the community hall, such as coffee mornings, ‘Soup and Sweet’ lunches and cream teas. The proceeds from these events are donated to local charities. Members also help to organise the Annual Community Carol Service in December.
The members of the congregation would welcome anyone who would like to join them on a Sunday morning.
